So, $60 for a cookbook? How did you come up with that price?
I’ve done the maths and this is what it’s going to cost to create the 300 page beautiful cookbook I have in mind. Once Kickstarter fees, taxes, shipping, etc. have been deducted, ALL of the money raised by this campaign will go to the production of the cookbook. It will be used to create and print the book, acquire supplies for photo shoots (those yummy ingredients you see in the photos aren’t free!), and pay the development team.
Because our print run will be smaller than most commercial cookbooks you buy on Amazon or at a bookstore, the cost per book is higher — that’s just how printing works. But this also means you’re getting something very special for your $60: a very limited first edition book.
And here’s another way to look at it: you’re getting 12 unique games for $60. That’s just $5 per game!

How do you calculate the book as being 300 pages?!
I’ve estimated how many pages I need for the basics: table of contents, introduction and index. I also looked at each individual game and estimated how many pages are needed for pictures, recipes, rules and modifications. Some of the games can’t be replayed without adjustments (because players know the answers). In these cases, I’ll include information for at least 3 full playthroughs and also instructions on how to make your own rules.
As an example, look at the sample chapter of The Order of the Oven Mitt. It takes up 28 pages total: 6 of those pages are dedicated to the Sacred Rituals, there’s a double page of the game board so you don’t have to make it yourself, and there’s a page with solid image on it so that the next chapter would start on an even page with a full spread. If every game was this long, that would be 336 pages, and that doesn’t include the table of contents, introduction and index. Not all games are this long though, so I’ve carefully worked out the details and ended up with approximately 300 pages total.

How can I buy more than one book?
It’s pretty simple really! Pledge an extra $60 to the Hardcover Edition or above tier and you’ll get another copy. For example, pledge $120 instead of $60, you’ll get two hardcover cookbooks. If we meet our funding goal, after the campaign finishes you’ll get access to Backerkit which will allow you to manage your pledge and choose the rewards you want.
If you live in the US, we’ll cover your shipping for one additional copy of the book. If you live outside the US, add shipping for the pledge tier you’ve chosen and we’ll cover the extra shipping for a second book. For example, if you live in the UK, pledge pledge $128, to get two hardcover cookbooks and shipping.
If you’d like to get two of the Gourmand Edition, the same principles apply: double your pledge to $220.
If you want more than two books, we’ll need to charge you for extra shipping after the campaign finishes and we can calculate more exact numbers - we don’t want to overcharge you!

Do I need fancy kitchen equipment to make these games?
No at all! All of the recipes have ways to make the games with very few specialised utensils. In fact, all of the games have alternatives so you can make them — even without an oven! The custom extras in the Gourmand Edition help make the games more themed to match with what’s in the book.

I'm a retailer. Do you offer any options for me?
Since I haven’t got final quotes on the books and shipping, it’s very hard to estimate costs for larger orders during the campaign.
The best thing to do right now is for you to back at the $60 level and then, if we successfully fund, we can talk after the campaign is over about how to get you multiple copies at a discount for retail. That way I’ll be able to correctly calculate book costs and shipping costs and be able to feel confident in any offer I suggest.

Can I buy the cookbook after the Kickstarter campaign is over?
After the campaign is over, backers will be able to manage their pledge using Backerkit. We will allow new backers into Backerkit, but they will have to pay extra for shipping. The cost that you see during the Kickstarter campaign is the cheapest the limited edition Edible Games Cookbook will ever be.
The current plan is to only put in a single order for the book. There are no plans to order extra and sell them somewhere else. This Kickstarter is your best way to ensure you’ll get a copy of the Edible Games Cookbook.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
