Latest Updates from Our Project:

Ready To Print Books!
about 5 years ago – Thu, Apr 04, 2019 at 02:20:45 AM

 A sample book has arrived!

To test colours, book feel and more, a sample using the first completed draft was made. Like the final version of the book, you now will get a ribbon to help you remember your place!

The sample book helps me check exactly how it would look before ordering a lot of books. We're checking for colours, how it lays flat, and how ribbony the ribbon is!

I want to keep this update short & to the point, so read my newsletter to find out more about how playtasting went, what I've been doing, and what needs to be done next.

Complete Your BackerKit Survey

Under 4% of backers or 55 people haven't completed their BackerKit surveys. For some of that 4%  this doesn't matter because you're not getting any rewards. For everyone else, you need to complete the survey to get your name in the book or make a final payment (if there was a failure previously). Make sure you complete your survey by the 10th April lock off date to ensure there aren't delays.

Last Chance to Adjust Orders

On 10th April I'll be locking orders on BackerKit. What this means is that this is your last chance to get your name in the book, add more books to your order, upgrade to get the Gourmand items, get extra gourmand items, buy for Christmas presents and more. Don't miss out:

Manage your pledge here!

The book will NOT be available in stores: I don't have a publisher and I don't want to manage selling the book myself. Kickstarter and BackerKit are the only sure way I know for you to get a book.

Timeline to Getting Your Books

So when will you get your books? This is what the timeline looks like right now:

  • This week: Final editing & checking the sample book for problems.
  • 10th April: Lock orders! Make sure you upgrade or buy any extras (like more books or the Gourmand Extras) before then.
  • April-June: Book printing.
  • 19th April: Charge credit cards in BackerKit.
  • May-June: Manufacture all other items for the gourmand edition. Note: the chocolate mould has been upgrade to be industry-standard polycarbonate! AND if the budget stretches, there might be a few extra special items included to help make playing the games even easier!
  • May: Release digital versions of the Edible Games Cookbook for PDF, Kindle, and hopefully more.
  • Approximately June: Items arrive at fulfilment warehouses.
  • Approximately June: Check your address in BackerKit & update if required. No need to update until then.
  • Late June-July: Physical books are shipped to backers.
  • Happiness & games & food are combined!

The Finish Line is in Sight
about 5 years ago – Fri, Feb 22, 2019 at 11:30:36 PM

The good news is that all chapters have been edited, laid out and sent to playtasters.

All of the heros for the baker's dozen of games you'll get in the Edible Games Cookbook.
All of the heros for the baker's dozen of games you'll get in the Edible Games Cookbook.

The bad news is that it's taking me longer than expected to get to this stage, so books may not arrive in your hands by May.

If printing and shipping are quick, then getting books to you by the end of May will be easy. However, printing and shipping are never quick! So I wanted to give you a little heads up that things might be a bit delayed.

The main reasons for this is that the iteration on editing, layouts, and playtasting is taking a while to make sure it's right. I want to make sure this book is the best it can be, so I'm double checking and trying to give playtasters as much time as possible to organise a group to play and test and taste the games they've been allocated.

If you're able to help out reading or playtasting a chapter, you can sign up using this form.

Read all about the current progress in this newsletter update.

Hopefully the next time I'll be in touch via Kickstarter will be to tell people I'm about to lock orders and upgrades and postal addresses!

Completing Chapters & Requesting Playtasters!
over 5 years ago – Fri, Dec 21, 2018 at 11:09:30 PM

Season's Greetings!

Create a Christmas Village with friends, then play-eat Gingerbread Friends to learn more about everyone.
Create a Christmas Village with friends, then play-eat Gingerbread Friends to learn more about everyone.

As stated before, I won't be doing many updates here on Kickstarter. To find out about what's been going on with me, read the latest newsletter.

The basics are that I'm now completing chapters. Although I already tested the games, I haven't tested whether people can understand both the recipes and the rules without me guiding them.

So I need playtasters to make-play-eat a chapter and report back on it. Yes, playTASTERs not playtesters, since you'll be tasting and playing.

The first two chapters available are Gingerbread Friends, and Flip 'n' Stick. More chapters will be getting released soon.

If you backed at the digital version or above, you're eligible to help out. Simply sign up using this form.

If you opted for "no reward", you can change or upgrade via BackerKit to become eligible.

Thank You for 2018

At the start of 2018, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get the funds to finish this crazy idea of a cookbook full of games you eat. Thank you so much for giving me so much happiness and letting me follow my dream. I love making this book for you. Not so much that I'll keep doing it forever, but I'm going to appreciate it while I can.

I'm looking forward to 2019 when I'll be able to hold a cookbook with my name on it and see photos of people around the world creating their own versions of my games.

All the best to you and your loved ones.
