Latest Updates from Our Project:

25% Funded! Plus Close Look at Master Taster!
almost 6 years ago – Fri, Jun 22, 2018 at 07:46:19 AM

One day down and we’re already over 25% funded!! WOW!!! It’s so amazing to see that little number keep ticking up and up.

Thanks so much for all the love so far. All the tweets, Facebook posts and more have been lovely. Seriously. Lovely!

Help us reach 100% by sharing this link of three ways to support the launch of the Edible Games Cookbook.

There’s also been articles about it:

  • Tabletop Gaming spoke to me about my design process and which of the twelve edible games would combine best into a 5-course games tasting feast!
  • The Geeky Hostess (a site where you can buy all kinds of geeky baking accessories) interviewed me about my inspirations.
  • Fellow Aussie and a Master Taster winner wrote about it.
  • Out and About With Kids talked to me about ways to play these edible games with kids, even when out camping.

 Master Taster

In the course of these updates, I thought it would be nice if we take an more in-depth look at some of the 12 games that will be in final cookbook. Also, I feel that some people might be daunted by the cooking/baking aspect of the games. So today, I’d like to talk about Master Taster - a game that will overload both your taste buds and your memory.

Master Taster requires absolutely no baking. All you need to do is go to your local supermarket and buy ingredients of different flavours. For the cookbook photography, I’ve used colourful candies, but there’s no reason why this couldn’t be fruits and vegetables or meats or different chip flavours or anything you like eating! The cookbook is set up so you can make substitutes easily.

What do you do in Master Taster?

You are all attempting to become the Master Tasters in the land. That is, you want to be the best food taster there is. You’re going to taste food for the biggest celebrities, Julius Caesar and Marie Antoinette. They’re very picky, there are a lot of flavours they don’t like.

Each round you’re given information about something one of them doesn’t like - you have to remember this. Next you’re given a taste of something with your eyes closed. You then have to show with thumbs up or down whether Julius Caesar and Marie Antoinette can each eat the item you tasted. If you’re wrong you’re out. The last person remaining becomes the Master Taster!

Here’s a sample from the book of the first trial using my suggested ingredients. There are 3 trials given and you can adjust any of them to have any ingredients you want.

Other Kickstarters I Love

I love searching through Kickstarter to find other interesting projects. Here’s two that I’ve backed that might appeal:

  • The first is Art Deck, a game by a personal inspirational hero of mine, Holly Gramazio. In it you get to make art, even when (like me) you have minimal drawing skills. It looks super playful and welcoming, which are two factors I love.
  • If you like cupcakes, then you should check out Creatures and Cupcakes. Sadly you don’t get to actually eat cupcakes yourself, unless you bring your own on the side. But it looks super cute.

Until Next Time!

If you have questions or requests for these updates, let me know via comments or messages. I already have a +1 for me giving out my “world famous” raspberry brownie recipe.

Don’t forget to do your three things to support the launch of the Edible Games Cookbook. Since you’re a backer you’ve already done one. Just two to go! When you’re done, share that link with others. Then in no time I’ll be at 100% and I can breathe a sigh of relief and get to make this book for you.

Thanks for reading!
